Statement: Viral Portraits are a series of Internet based montages combining key components of diseases sequenced for databanks of the future; Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Hodgkin’s, and HIV:AIDS. By using a variety of personal reflections and public journalistic stories I am able to draw together a more complete picture of diseases that are being used in the public eye to promote the need for genetic innovation.

Bio: Diane Ludin is an artist and writer using the internet as a material resource since 1996. She weaves together voices of intimacy, confession and fragmented illusion into montages of contemporary information and communication. Her montages focus on framing the Virtual Body as a body of concepts that draw the core of "embodiment".

She has exhibited both her solo and collaborative works in the US and Abroad. Commissioned works include projects for The Walker Art Center, Franklin Furnace, and Turbulence.org. Collaborative performances and broadcasts with The Electronic Disturbance Theater, FAKESHOP, Las Fantasmas, Prema Murthy, Francesca DiRimini, Ricardo Dominguez, and Agnese Trocchi.
